Support for Melanoma March
A Umina skin cancer survivor who completed a leg of the Longest Melanoma March in Queensland has urged Peninsula residents to support fellow melanoma survivor and principal marcher, Mr Jay Allen, on his 1200km journey.
Umina's Ms Jody Mckinnon said she urged locals to get behind the campaign, which Mr Allen hoped would raise $250,000 to fight skin cancer.
According to Ms Mckinnon, Mr Allen started The Longest Melanoma March in honour of friends he lost to melanoma over the years and to give hope to those battling the disease.
Ms Mckinnon marched with Mr Allen for a week, celebrating her 40th birthday and five years being cancer free.
